SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

DownSouth Press does NOT accept unsolicited manuscripts.

DownSouth Press will publish no more than twelve (12) titles per year. We are interested in serious and well-crafted fiction and non-fiction including literary, contemporary and historical novels, as well as, mysteries, memoir and science fiction.

DownSouth Press will NOT be publishing works in the romance, inspirational or religious genres. If your book falls into one of these latter categories, it is not for us.

We will only consider one work by an author at a time.

At this time, we are NOT accepting works from  authors without agents. All submissions should be made through the author’s agent.

 If you do not adhere to these current guidelines, your work will NOT be returned and will NOT be read.

All manuscripts should be submitted with a one-page query letter (with an e-mail address), a one-page synopsis and a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE). Please follow industry standards when formatting your manuscript for submission.

A Few Tips

1. Use 1” margins (left, right, top, bottom).
2. Use a 12-point Courier font.
3. Double-space your manuscript.
4. Place your last name and the title of the work in the header of each page.
5. Number all  pages.
6. Check for typos, misspellings and improper punctuation and grammar (use Spell Check).

DownSouth Press will not accept electronic submissions, however, please include an e-mail address in your query letter.
